Case Study — Off Site Reception
Toei Movie Land
A Thrilling Kyoto Night
A member of the group hollers out to the tower, in the distance enormous taiko drums roll, and the mighty gate swings open to reveal a world of times past. Welcome to Kyoto Toei Uzumasa Movie Studios – the Mecca of sword action and the home of harmony according to Suzaki Tetsuyoshi, who introduced the concept of evening events at the studios. Enter a world of gallant samurai warriors and graceful geisha who drink mysterious illuminated cocktails, and who dine on sumptuous international fare by the light of burning torches. This all awaits you as they let you into their realm. But, first there is an adventure to complete and deadly ninja to survive!
Skilfully dodge attacks as you weave through the streets of old Japan hot on the trail of the silent ninja who have taken your princess hostage. Stare into the fearsome eyes of the dark lord who growls at you from the roof top. You might even be facing up to the formidable Lee Murayama who starred alongside Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai.
The mission is complete when the ninja are slain and your princess is saved. Then it is time to make merry with your new friends over delicious food and drink, and excellent entertainment. You might even find yourself being a star for the night ...
Groups from Europe and US based multinational corporations particularly request the inclusion of the samurai show during “Ninja Night” receptions. This always creates an atmosphere of unity and excitement throughout the party. The effort made to become a samurai for chanbara sword fighting pulls down all barriers within the group – serious executives and gentle academics have no choice but to show their true characters! It could even be said that parties enter the world of “wa” - the Japanese concept of harmony – after a visit to Eigamura!
The special ability of Toei Uzumasa Movie Studios to create tailor made receptions is the result of its long history as a film set. There have been hundreds of action-packed samurai movies produced here at the Toei Studios and the ninja films are well known to be loved by Quentin Tarantino. The studios did not envisage that samurai movies would be taken up so reverently by Hollywood producers. Suzaki says that, it is truly and honour to see international guests enjoy their visit to Eigamura in Kyoto because it is the birthplace of Japan’s samurai movie industry.
For those who have an image of Japanese parties being sedate affairs: Eigamura presents an atmosphere for you to truly forget the rest of the world. We guarantee that the surprises will keep you on your toes for a thrilling Kyoto party! I promise a big smile on the face of each of your guests. Suzaki Tetsuyoshi, Toei Uzumasa Movie Studios.
